Pro golfer Lucky Cruz continues to inspire on and off the course

Houston – There’s a young golf prodigy who’s really making a name for himself not just on the professional tours but in the community, too. At just 17, soon to be 18, Lucky Cruz is showing what dedication, talent, and heart look like.

Since turning pro recently, Cruz has been traveling all over in 2024 playing tournaments across the U.S., Mexico, and El Salvador. He’s often up against players twice or even three times his age. But with 12 years of golf under his belt, he’s learned to trust the hard work he’s put in.

What’s really impressive is that he’s not just about the game. For every birdie he makes this season, he donates $200 to Texas Children’s Hospital, and so far, he’s raised around $8,000. He wants to inspire and help others, especially kids, through his efforts. He tells Houston Life co-hosts Derrick Shore and Tessa Barrera that his advice for kids is to get outside and find their passion. He admits it’s tough but says it’s all about finding something that truly excites you.

Even though he’s gaining attention—and even caught the eye of basketball star Steph Curry he stays humble, keeps his head down, and focuses on working hard every day.

Other sports giants like Tiger Woods and the late Kobe Bryant are big influences on him, showing how dedication and loving the process go hand in hand.
