Houston – The James Beard Awards are among one of the most prestigious culinary recognitions in the country and this week, the foundation is bringing its Taste America culinary Series to Houston.
The Taste America Culinary Series is known for bringing together chefs from 20 cities across the country to highlight local flavors and culinary innovation. The event will bring together some of the city’s top chefs under one roof to display Houston’s diverse food scene, and to bring awareness to the foundation’s mission of “Good Food for Good®,” which supports equity, sustainability, and women’s leadership in the hospitality industry.
Among the featured chefs are Sergio Hidalgo and James Beard nominee Chris Williams of Late August, both of whom will attend the event this Thursday, Sept. 12 at The Four Seasons Hotel.
During their appearance on Houston Life, Hidalgo and Williams discussed the event’s mission to spotlight diverse culinary voices and support the local food scene. Late August is located in Midtown’s Ion District. The Chefs Chris Williams and Sergio Hidalgo drew inspiration from their childhoods and culinary journeys, infusing each dish with a blend of Afro-Mexican culture and flavor.

In the Houston Life kitchen, the chefs gave a sneak peek of what’s in store for guests by demonstrating the crudo recipe they’ll be presenting at the event. The fresh, vibrant dish is sure to “wow” with bold flavors and artful presentation.
