Being a hero is all in a day’s work for first responders honored at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo

HOUSTON – First Responders Day presented by BP at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo is a day to celebrate those whose job it is to be a hero.

Everyday EMS, law enforcement, and firefighters save lives.

The First Responders Day ceremony honors those who are heroes every single day. This year, 18 individuals and four groups of first responders were awarded for their efforts at work. Each of their heroic deeds read like a scene from a movie.

Whether it is saving children from drowning, rescuing people, animals, and even colleagues from blazing buildings, or negotiating the release of hostages, and even breaking up criminal rackets, saving lives and protecting the community is simply part of the job.

They always answer the call, day in and day out. You know, most people run from danger, they run into danger, and we’re just hugely grateful for that. So, it’s just a real honor and privilege to be able to take at least one day out of the year, partnering with the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, to recognize our first responders and just say thank you for what they do every day, putting their life on the line for us,” said Andy Grieger who is bp America’s SVP for Gulf of Mexico.

First Responders Day presented by bp America is a day when the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo salutes all of our local heroes EMS, police, and firefighters.
