Talented high-school students to be cast in TUTS Texas All-State Musical

Houston – Calling all musical theater high-school students, Theatre Under the Stars has an opportunity you do not want to miss!

It’s bringing together like-minded students from all over the state of Texas to celebrate theater in a fully-produced stage musical of Les Misérables: School Edition.

“The TUTS Texas All-State Musical is an extraordinarily unique opportunity for top talented high school performers across Texas to perform in a high caliber musical at a statewide level” said Laura Peete in a news release. Peete is the TUTS Artistic Line Producer who is directing the production.

Auditions and interest forms are due on Feb. 29 with callbacks happening in April. Once cast, students will come to TUTS in June and will be housed on the University of Houston campus until the completion of the show in early July.

There is a tuition cost, but financial aid is available.

Jacob Shideler, director of education for TUTS, tells us art education is not only important in pursuing a career in the industry but events like this give students much-needed life skills and are key in understanding different perspectives and ideas.
