Digital Creator and Houstonian Sarah Pappas launches ‘Rair Burd’ apparel company

HOUSTON – Houstonian Sarah Pappas is a digital creator who travels the world trying new things. But her hard work that got her to this point was anything but glamorous. A self-described “tom boy” growing up, Sarah told Houston Life co-hosts Derrick Shore and Tessa Barrera that she was frequently bullied. “I couldn’t speak in public. I had a reading, speaking and learning disability,” said Pappas.

Sarah has come a long way since then. In between spending long days working in the operating room for a Fortune 50 company, traveling the globe and continuing to build her 140k+ following on Instagram, Sarah decided to start an apparel company that would be flattering to all ages and body types. “The name from where Rair Burd came, was from my dad. I was kind awkward growing up, I got teased a lot and I would come home crying and my dad would always say, ‘Sarah, you are a rare bird.’”

The brand went on sale just two months ago and already, Pappas is expanding the line. “I just want to create a positive impact for so many women’s lives and this is how I’m going about it.”

Watch as Sarah opens up to Houston Life co-hosts Derrick Shore and Tessa Barrera about how she went from being teased as a kid to becoming a successful influencer, entrepreneur and world traveler.
