HOUSTON – Texas Children’s Heart Center cardiologists, along with volunteers and friends, knitted nearly 50 red hats for heart patients at Texas Children’s Hospital in honor of Heart Month and Valentine's Day.

“I am thrilled to be able to serve patients in this capacity,” pediatric cardiologist Dr. Aimee Liou said. “To be able to show them kindness, compassion and warmth on top of giving them the best possible clinical care is really special.” 

More than 35,000 babies in the U.S. are born with congenital heart defects each year, as well as those who continue to live with congenital heart disease.
