The forecast shows only a 10 to 20% chance of isolated showers or thunderstorms on Saturday, meaning most folks can expect to stay dry. There are no indications of washouts, so weekend plans outdoors are looking good across southeast Texas.
High-pressure placement changes the pattern next week
The biggest driver behind these sunny, drier days is a high-pressure system setting up over the area.
High pressure usually brings drier air, fewer clouds, and plenty of sunshine because sinking air prevents moisture buildup. This setup tends to dry things out and also bumps up afternoon temperatures.
The high pressure is expected to stick around through Sunday. Once it slides away, the forecasts call for more moisture moving back into southeast Texas, potentially boosting rain opportunities for the new week.
Travelers should keep in mind that showers and storms could cause slowdowns next week.
