From their headquarters in Dickinson, Texas EquuSearch brings closure for grieving families

Founded in August 2000, Texas EquuSearch is a nonprofit organization that has been helping reunite families with missing loved ones, all over the world, for almost a quarter of a century. Sometimes, a team of volunteers will bring people home alive. Many times, it is about finding remains and bringing some form of closure to grieving families. The pain that comes with the kind of grief a family experiences not knowing what has become of a murdered loved one is something Texas EquuSearch founder and CEO, Tim Miller knows all too well. Miller’s daughter Laura went missing in 1984. Her body was found 17 months later. Miller shares how Texas EquuSearch grew out of his own loss and anguish into something that has often been the only hope for grieving families. Over the years, Miller has worked alongside law enforcement and government departments to help find those missing and as a result, bring justice and closure to many criminal cases. Houston Life’s Melanie Camp visited Texas EquuSearch headquarters in Dickinson, Texas to meet with volunteers and talk to Miller after a morning of searching for a murdered man.
