Indians' Ramirez, Reyes isolated after COVID-19 violations

CLEVELAND – For the third time in less than a year, the Cleveland Indians are having to isolate players because they broke COVID-19 protocols. Francona said Reyes, who had a virus-related misstep last season, and Ramirez went out to dinner on Friday following an exhibition game in Mesa against the Chicago Cubs. These are the rules that the players’ association and Major League Baseball came up with. Francona understands that players may be fatigued by the COVID-19 guidelines, but they're in place to protect their safety. But these are the rules we’re playing under and the more we follow them, the better chance it gives us to be a complete baseball team.

AP source: Padres get Clevinger in deal with Indians

The San Diego Padres acquired Mike Clevinger in a multiplayer trade with the Cleveland Indians on Monday, bolstering their rotation with another bold move ahead of baseball's trade deadline. The person confirmed the deal to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the trade hadn't been announced. Led by Fernando Tatis Jr., San Diego is going for its first playoff appearance since 2006. The acquisition of Clevinger is the Padres' fifth trade since Saturday. The Indians also got infielder Gabriel Arias, left-hander Joey Cantillo and infielder Owen Miller in the deal.
