Kelly Clarkson has responded to a Rolling Stone report accusing her daytime talk show of being a toxic workplace.

Daytime TV is is going through a “re-rack,” as one executive put it.

During “The Kelly Clarkson Show” Tuesday promoting his new memoir “Green Lights,” the “Dazed and Confused” actor told the story of how his mother pretended he won a “Little Mr. Texas” pageant when he was 8 years old, but actually won runner-up. Here’s McConaughey telling the story in another interview. “Every time I would go to the kitchen for breakfast, my mom would point the framed photo of me and would say ‘Look at you, Matthew, Little Mr. Texas, that’s you!'" “You know what, would I be sitting here right now with the life I have if I was raised thinking I was runner-up?"

Kelly Clarkson is thankful for her estranged husband, despite their recent fallout. The singer won a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Entertainment Talk Show Host for her first season of The Kelly Clarkson Show on Friday. Following her win, she took to Twitter to thank her whole team, including Blackstock who is an executive producer on the show. A source told ET that the couple "decided to call it quits after realizing the relationship hasnt been working for a while." Kelly Clarkson and Demi Lovato understand the importance of keeping it real for their fans. "I love how open you are about mental health because I have similar issues, and I've suffered from depression," Clarkson tells Lovato. When I was younger I always thought to myself, 'If I make it, I want to be like her because she's real and she's genuine.'" Clarkson thanks Lovato for the compliment, but adds that her struggles aren't always as easy as they might seem to fans. I think that's a daily thing you work at and a daily thing that I work out."

LOS ANGELES – The first season of “The Kelly Clarkson Show” received Daytime Emmy Awards nominations for best entertainment talk show and host, while “Jeopardy!” veteran Alex Trebek’s nod for best game show host could give him a second consecutive win in the category. “General Hospital” earned a leading 23 nominations Thursday, including best daytime drama, lead actress nods for Finola Hughes and Maura West, and lead actor nods for Steve Burton and Jon Lindstrom. Other top nominees are “Days of Our Lives” with 22 bids, “The Young and the Restless” with 21 and “The Bold and the Beautiful” with 13. “The Kelly Clarkson Show” will compete with “The Ellen DeGeneres Show”; “GMA3”; “Live with Kelly and Ryan” and “The Talk." The 47th annual Daytime Emmys, airing June 26 on CBS, are skipping a theater ceremony because of the coronavirus and will be presented virtually.
