Join us in Austin from Sept. 22-24 for our biggest and best ideas weekend ever. The 30 speakers we’re announcing today are only a hint of what we have planned.

She will cover the Panhandle and South Plains through Report for America. She previously reported for Texas Tech Public Media.

We’re hiring reporters to cover the Panhandle/South Plains and East Texas, along with a regional editor. We hope to also place staff in the Rio Grande Valley and the Permian Basin.

Fabiana Chaparro will join the multimedia team, and Caroline Covington will join the data visuals team.

He will work with the product team to better understand our audience, our coverage and our big strategic opportunities for the years to come.

RevLab at The Texas Tribune is partnering with LION Publishers and the News Revenue Hub to host the first Independent News Sustainability Summit from Oct. 27-29 in Austin.

A dogged accountability journalist, Despart will help center our political coverage on ordinary Texans and expose failures of governance and abuses of power.

A beloved reporter and columnist who knows more about Texas politics than just about anyone alive, he’s been instrumental to the Tribune’s operations and evolution. No him, no us. Our success is his legacy.

This survey will help us better serve and understand our readers across Texas and beyond.

She moves from the Tribune’s editorial team to our audience team, where she will take charge of our flagship email newsletter, The Brief.

One of Texas’ most respected news leaders, Andy will be involved in all decisions involving hiring, advancement and compensation, and also oversee our fellowships program and our source diversity project.

I feel luckier each day to have had the chance to launch and lead this amazing org. I believe in public interest journalism more than ever. But it’s time to hand off the reins.
