One Houston area mother and her 17-year-old son have been dealing with the headache of having to figure out what to do after her son mistakenly received the Moderna vaccine through HCA due to a clerical error.

HOUSTON โ Prairie View A&M University will host the first COVID-19 vaccination clinic in Waller County. The site is open for those with appointments on Thursday and Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.โI think we are averaging 90 to 100 folks coming through an hour right now,โ said Waller County Judge Trey Duhon. He said the drive-thru operation was planned in about a week and is a result of a collaboration between the county and university. โThe university is really vested in making sure that we can do what we can to stop the spread of the virus,โ said Tondra Moore, the executive director of health services for Prairie View University. So itโs awesome that we get to come here and put our skills into practice,โ said PVU nursing student Keara Avie.

HOUSTON โ Dorinda Beal, 73, received the Moderna vaccine on Jan. 17 at NRG Park in Houston. She said about 14 minutes after being vaccinated she started seeing my adverse effects. โThey were concerned because my blood pressure went so high and my heart rate went so high,โ said Beal. Since Dec. 29, 2020, nearly 250,000 vaccines have been administered in Texas, according to the Texas Department of State Health Services. โFor perspective, early data showed that approximately one-of-100,000 people that got Pfizer got anaphylactic reactions and one-in-400,000 people in Moderna.
