The Liberty County Sheriff’s office is warning folks about an increase in scam calls throughout their area and in its surrounding counties.

Investigators are working to determine what circumstances surrounded the death of a 3-year-old over the weekend.

DAISETTA, Texas – Liberty County Sheriff’s deputies are investigating a case after a 1-year-old girl was found dead in a neighbor’s pool. The family reported the baby girl missing on Monday afternoon from the parent’s home on West Pine Street in Daisetta, Texas. ”As you would imagine, the investigators were asking the logical questions,” said Liberty County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Captain Ken DeFoor. Liberty County Sheriff’s deputies were called to the Nine Mile Ranch, a waterpark that was located in Dayton, Texas. Liberty County Sheriff’s Office, Texas Rangers and Daisetta Police are all working on the case.

A man who made a frantic call to the Liberty County Sheriff’s Dispatcher was later found dead inside his mobile home Monday afternoon, according to Liberty County Sheriff’s Office. The call was made around 1 p.m. from Aiden Walker, who said he’d been shot eight times at his home in the Plum Grove area, deputies said. After interviewing witnesses, deputies were able to identify the suspect’s vehicle. Around 3:30 p.m., deputies said the suspect, Samuel F. Depina, turned himself in and was taken into custody. Depina was booked into the Liberty County Jail.

LIBERTY COUNTY, Texas – Just before the sun set Friday, a DPS helicopter from Austin circled two-year-old Devon Davis' home. "The best benefit of that is unmanned and it can fly for hours," Liberty County Sheriff's Capt. An Amber Alert was issued for Devon Davis on Tuesday. On Thursday, Liberty County officials said the search changed to a recovery mission, meaning that they don't expect to find the boy alive.
