Jim Carrey, as Biden, mocks Trump loss on 'SNL'

Jim Carrey played President-elect Joe Biden, taking the stage and poking fun at the five-day wait for results. He even offered a throwback to one of his infamous '90s-era lines, calling President Donald Trump a “Looooosseer!” to laughs and applause. Chappelle hosted “SNL” in November 2016 in its first episode after Trump’s election, pointedly critiquing the surprise over the result. “You know, I didn't know Donald Trump was going to win the election,” Chapelle said four years ago. “SNL” has regularly lampooned Trump and his presidency in recent years, enlisting Baldwin to play the commander in chief.

‘Saturday Night Live’ has best season opener since 2016

“Saturday Night Live” scored its biggest season premiere audience in four years and second best in 12 years, emphasizing the importance of presidential election time for the NBC comedy show. During a busy week for news and sports, “Saturday Night Live” was the most-watched entertainment show, despite starting at 11:35 p.m. on the East Coast, the Nielsen company said. With 8.24 million viewers, it was the second most-watched “SNL” episode since May 2017, with the exception being last December's triumphant return of Eddie Murphy. “We needed ‘Saturday Night Live’ to rise to the occasion for this moment, and it didn't,” agreed Eric Deggans, critic for National Public Radio. “Debate Analysis,” NBC, 6.94 million.

'Saturday Night Live' goes political in 46th season opener

(AP Photo/Andrew Harnik, File)LOS ANGELES – “Saturday Night Live” went political with a parody of this week’s presidential debate, Chris Rock's jab at President Donald Trump and Megan Thee Stallion's message supporting Black people during her performance. The NBC late-night sketch series on Saturday night jumped into the reenactment of the recent debate between Republican President Donald Trump and Democratic challenger Joe Biden. The series opened its 46th season, returning to the studio this week after the coronavirus pandemic halted production. Alec Baldwin returned to play Trump before the president’s COVID diagnosis, while Jim Carrey made his feature debut as Biden. “President Trump is in the hospital from COVID, and I just want to say that my heart goes out to COVID,” he joked.

Jim Carrey on Crafting a Fictional Hollywood to 'Tell a Deeper Truth' (Exclusive)

When it came time to tell his story, it's no surprise that Jim Carrey decided to turn the memoir genre on its head. "It's basically using fiction to tell a deeper truth," Carrey tells ET's Nischelle Turner. It represents the the myth that people carry around in their heads about Hollywood." He did a hell of a job, and he's one of the greatest actors, so I feel extremely lucky." With a satirical fictional memoir, Jim Carrey gets real

This combination photo shows the cover of "Memoirs and Misinformation," left, and a portrait of author-actor Jim Carrey. Theres a lot of real feeling in this book, said Carrey in a Zoom interview from his home in Hawaii. And I think Jim was aware very early on that thats not how it would go down.Carrey isn't sure when he began to feel Jim Carrey cleaving away from himself. As eager as he seems to be to take Jim Carrey and tear him to pieces, he seems at least through a computer window thousands of miles away at ease in his own skin. Whatever it was, it was the perfect cocktail to get us here to this moment," Carrey says of his life.

Jim Carrey and his very unusual memoir

Jim Carrey and his very unusual memoir If you think Jim Carrey is merely a brilliant-but-quirky actor-comedian, just wait until you read his new book titled "Memoirs and Misinformation." Correspondent Tracy Smith talks with Carrey and co-author Dana Vachon about their "semi-autobiographical novel."

'Sonic the Hedgehog' is up against the stigma of video game flops at the box office

Hollywood has long tried to capitalize on the financial success and cultural relevance of video games by turning them into feature-length films. Unfortunately, there has always seemed to be something lost in translation between the game controller and the theater. These films have tended to make back their production budgets so studios keep making them but fail to become as beloved as the video games they're based on. With a 65% "Fresh" rating on Rotten Tomatoes from 98 reviews, "Sonic" is currently the third-highest rated video game adaptation, but as more reviews pour in, it seems the Sega-inspired film suffers from the same pitfalls as its predecessors. His performance was often cited as the perfect counterbalance to a script comprised of "derivative" storytelling and "skimpy" character development.
