Senatorโs annual โFestivusโ report highlights government grant for boat slips, marinas
โItโs been really, really hard,โ said Murray, who was a victim of Harvey. Back at Laguna Harbor, the feds have earmarked dollars for another building project, a new marina. โIโm tired of you spending money on rich people, letโs spend it on those who need money,โ said the Junior U.S. On page 66 of last yearโs report, Paul highlights Laguna Harbor. Johnson said he has sent a demand letter to Senator Paul on behalf of Laguna Harbor to retract the defamatory claims in the Festivus report.
This Harris County Superfund site is โvulnerableโ to flooding
NBC News, the Texas Observer, and insideclimatenews.org have partnered for an extensive investigation into the role climate change is playing with Superfund sites across the U.S. He is convinced the EPA needs to revisit Superfund sites in areas prone to flooding, hurricanes and sea-level rise because these symptoms of climate change were never figured into Superfund site remediation plans. AdPlan for major flooding eventsThe site has had a history of flooding; however, the site plans and selected remedy take those challenges into account. Iโm not familiar with this particular superfund site, but I have requested a briefing on it by the EPA.โ
Daphne Prairie, Texas and other grasslands can store carbon and help fight climate change
Grasslands, like this one in Cochran County, store most of their carbon underground, which means it is not released back into the atmosphere when grasslands burn. As part of photosynthesis, plants pull carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and store it in their stems, leaves and roots. Unlike trees, grasslands store most of their carbon underground, in their roots and the soil. Funding is available to landowners for carbon stored in forests, such as Californias cap-and-trade market, and the same should be done for soil, Blackburn said. The value of pristine grassland in the fight against climate change is not just its ability to store carbon, Blackburn said.
