HOUSTON – Tree pollen is about to cause some trouble in Houston, and this year it may also cause confusion as people wonder if their symptoms are just seasonal allergies or COVID-19 related. “We are on the brink of our spring allergy season,” said Dr. Michael Kaplan, an ENT with Houston Sinus Center. But if you have a history of allergies and you can correlate it with the time and the exposure, it’s probably just allergies,” said Kaplan. “The tree pollen is going to start to accumulate in the next few weeks. Then you’re looking at grass pollen, but the tree pollen is the big culprit here,” said Kaplan.

Houstonian creates Facebook page to help rodeo vendors, a year later it’s thriving
HOUSTON – When the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo was canceled in 2020, many businesses worried they would not make it. This year has proven to be another hurdle for rodeo vendors. “At the time, it was called Houston Rodeo Vendors 2020,” Adams. It’s since grown and now called “Texas Festival Vendors” on Facebook, an online page where vendors can share their products. For more information, visit the Texas Festival Vendors Facebook group.
Rodeo vendors react to rodeo closed again in 2021
Southwest Houston – Amid the cancelation of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, many vendors are extremely disappointed. Brookwood Community, a community with over 200 adults who are living with disabilities, makes products to sell at the Houston Rodeo every year. It’s the highlight of the year to be able to come to the rodeo,” said Jana Mullins of Brookwood Community. HOUSTON – Memorial Hermann officials said the additional 2,000 appointment slots they opened Friday for the hospital system’s vaccine clinic this weekend at NRG Park were filled in a little more than an hour. Previous story:Memorial Hermann Hospital started vaccinating thousands of people in the area’s first drive-thru mass vaccination clinic at NRG Park on Thursday. I haven’t seen my grandkids in a long time and I’m ready to go see them,” said Joslin. Memorial Hermann initially invited only people 65 and older who had relationships with the hospital, such as previous patients.
This is how RodeoHouston says it’s working toward a safe return in 2021
After abruptly ending its season in the first stages of the coronavirus pandemic, the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo is hopeful to return in 2021. “Together, we can work toward a safe and healthy Rodeo in 2021, but we need your support. In order to have a safe and healthy 2021 Rodeo, here is how you can help to #StaySafeForRodeo,” RodeoHouston said on its website. The pledge includes four recommendations for hopeful attendees to follow before they can buckle up for the rodeo in 2021. Since September, RodeoHouston has reassured the public that planning for the 2021 season is underway.

HOUSTON – The Houston Rodeo and Livestock Show and announced that planning is underway for a safe and healthy 2021 rodeo. The massive annual event was forced to shut down early in March as COVID-19 cases continued to rise in the Houston area. The move left many vendors and concert ticketholders in a bind. Rodeo volunteers are preparing to welcome revelers to NRG Park between March 2 and March 21 with multiple health and safety measures in place. The rodeo’s safety plan has not been finalized but the event is undertaking several different approaches including creating several task forces, collaborating with local venues and sports teams, analyzing community feedback and work closely with medical experts and local officials.
