A ground stop is in effect for flights to George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston due to thunderstorms, as issued by the FAA at 2:30 a.m.

According to a statement provided by the Federal Aviation Administration to KPRC, the crew of United Airlines Flight 1382 safely aborted takeoff from George Bush Intercontinental/Houston Airport due to a reported engine issue.

Both Houston-area airports, William P. Hobby Airport and George Bush Intercontinental Airport, have temporarily grounded all flights due to the storms in the area.

Federal funding will make upgrades to Houston airport terminals and make both airports energy efficient.

Due to the low visibility - less than a tenth of a mile in some areas - Crosby ISD has announced it will be starting an hour late across the entire district. All departure traffic destined to Hobby Airport will not be allowed to depart until or after 8 a.m., and passengers traveling out of that airport are also advised to check their flight status.
