Artsy Edinburgh, laid low by the virus, hopes for recovery

The Fringe, the high-toned Edinburgh International Festival, the Edinburgh International Book Festival, the Art Festival and the citys bagpipe-swirling Military Tattoo were all casualties of the U.K.s coronavirus lockdown. Donald Emslie, chairman of the Edinburgh Tourism Action Group, said the citys annual income from tourism doubled between 2010 and 2020. Edinburgh has been synonymous with arts festivals since 1947, when the Edinburgh International Festival was founded to revive the war-weary city. Last year more than 3.1 million tickets were sold to almost 4,000 Fringe shows during the three-week event. The International Festival also broadcast some productions online, and the book festival ran live-streamed talks by authors from around the world.

2019 Breakthrough Entertainer: Florence Pugh owns the year

This Nov. 20, 2019 photo shows actress Florence Pugh during a portrait session in Los Angeles. “It’s so weird,” Pugh recently told The Associated Press, which named her one of its Breakthrough Entertainers of 2019. Despite having three major films come out in a 10-month period in 2019, Pugh insists not that much is different in her life. “And I basically had Emily Watson and Emma Thompson talking to me about why the industry works and why it doesn't. Like, I really, really, really want to be a gritty, greasy toothed, kind of hairy woman with a wax linen skirt that crunches when she gets on the horse,” Pugh said.

Emma Stone Has 'Punk Rock' Edge in First Look at 'Cruella' -- Pic!

On Saturday, the very first image of the dastardly Dalmatian-stealing villainess' standalone film, Cruella, was released at D23, showcasing Oscar winner Emma Stone as the 101 Dalmatians character. There's undeniably edge to this incarnation of Cruella in comparison to Glenn Close's refined, fur-covered version in the 1996 live-action adaptation of the Disney classic. Heres your first look at Emma Stone as Cruella de Vil in Disney's Cruella. The film, also starring Emma Thompson, Paul Walter Hauser, and Joel Fry, comes to theaters May 28, 2021. 'Last Christmas': Watch the First Trailer for Emilia Clarke and Henry Golding's

Emilia Clarke and Henry Golding are feeling the seasonal sparks in the adorable, bittersweet first trailer for Last Christmas. Soon, she stumbles upon Tom (Golding), a handsome stranger, kind-hearted stranger who Kate begrudgingly finds herself enamoured with. Either way, the chemistry between Clarke and Golding feels instant and utterly magnetic, which might end up being the film's strongest feature.
