Photos: 47 fishing records broken in Texas in 2019
SAN ANTONIO – Dozens of Texans reeled in large hauls in 2019 — a year that Texas Parks and Wildlife called “great” for fishing. Fishermen and women broke 47 new state fishing records in Texas this year, according to TPWD. For individual lakes, rivers or bays, 434 waterbody records were broken. 200-plus-pound fish swim in Texas rivers, some over 50 years oldFishermen and women must measure and weigh their catch, take several photos and complete the application. “We are happy to recognize great catches even when they may not have set a new record.”Here’s a list of fishing records broken in 2019, according to the Texas Parks and Wildlife.
Things to Do: Houston Film Critics Society "Best of 2019" Awards
Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, Quentin Tarantino's 9th movie, and Noah Baumbach's Marriage Story lead all nominees for the Houston Film Critics Society's "Best of 2019" awards. Winners will be announced January 2 at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston. Both Hollywood and Marriage secured six nominations, including Best Picture. Closely following, with five nominations each, are 1917, Sam Mendes's extended take World War I epic, Bong-Joon Ho's Parasite, and The Irishman. Earlier this month, the HFCS also announced its nominees for the Texas Independent Film Awards which honor films made in Texas.
