Sheila Jackson Lee holds news conference discussing Barbers Hill, CROWN Act controversy following lawsuit
Texas Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee is expected to hold a press conference following the recent ruling which stated that Barbers Hill Independent School District did not violate the CROWN Act after disciplining a student for wearing his natural hair.

MONT BELVIEU David Lothridge of Mont Belvieu represents many if not the majority of the parents in Barbers Hill Independent School District. Nearly every parent with children in the district that KPRC 2 came across Thursday was in favor of sending kids back to school for in-person instruction with no delays. Many parents are comfortable with the in-person option but the issue is causing tension between the superintendent and the Chambers County Public Health Department. Classes are scheduled to begin August 19 with parents having the option of starting kids online or at home, per TEA guidelines. The health departments request for an in-person delay drew a fiery response in this letter from Barbers Hill Superintendent Dr. Greg Poole.

Dreadlocks length controversy heats up at the Barbers Hill board meeting
MONT BELVIEU, Texas โ Inside the Barbers Hill Independent School District board meeting there is a clear division on the issue of the dress code policy. Gary Monroe, with United Urban Alumni Association, spoke to board members on his opposition to the dress code. At Monday nightโs meeting, Arnoldโs family and several activists took to the podium to express their discontent with the districtโs current dress code policy. This not about dress code, this is about policing black boys,โ an activist said. DeAndre Arnoldโs father, David Arnold, told the board the continuous punishment of his son is a form of bullying.
