What does DeMeco Ryans want to see in the Texans first preseason game?

HOUSTON – With the upcoming Houston Texans’ preseason game against the Los Angeles Chargers at Reliant Stadium on Thursday night, we got access inside the stadium for Tuesday’s practice. Head Coach DeMeco Ryans shared what he wants to see from his players during the game.

“The main thing I look for our first game, the first time out for 2026, is: are we displaying our play style?” said Ryans. “That’s the main thing I want to see no matter who you are when you touch the field: are you repping the Texans brand? I wanna see guys playing fast, playing relentless, finishing. Who can you count on to execute when the lights are on, in game time? Can they go out and perform well under the lights, under a little bit more stress? How do guys operate at that level? That’s what I’m looking for.”

The Texans will kickoff against the Chargers at 7 p.m. on Thursday and then host their 2nd preseason game the next Thursday against the Las Vegas Raiders.
