The move also includes lefthander Colton Gordon who has been in Sugar Land and according to the Brewers organization they announced outfield prospect Jadyn Fielder goes to the Astros organization. He is the son of former Brewers star Prince Fielder.
The move ends an 11 season run in Houston for McCullers Jr. who played big roles in the 2017 and 2022 World Series runs. Injuries have played a big part of his career and battled back this season where he pitched 39 innings before suffering a right rotator cuff impingement in May that landed him on the IL.
Before the trade Tuesday, McCullers Jr. was building back up with success in three starts in Sugar Land with the Space Cowboys and planning on a return this month.
According to multiple reports the Astros will pick up a part of his remaining 2026 contract that pays 17.7 million. The Brewers will also pick up an undisclosed portion of his contract as well.
McCullers Jr. is in the final year of his five-year contract and can test the market this offseason.
