Pena, Brown and Hader named Astros All-Stars

Major League Baseball announced the 2025 All-Star reserves this afternoon, revealing that three Astros had been named to the American League squad, all via the player vote.

RHP Hunter Brown and SS Jeremy Peña were selected as All-Stars for the first time in their careers, while LHP Josh Hader was named as an All-Star for the sixth time. The Astros have now had three or more All-Star selections every season since 2017. Their 36 All-Star selections since 2017 are more than any other AL club in that span.

The 2025 Midsummer Classic is scheduled for Tuesday, July 15 at Truist Park in Atlanta, GA.

Brown, 26, has been outstanding in 2025, posting a 9-3 record with a Major League-best 1.82 ERA. His .180 opponent batting average is also the best in the Majors as he has allowed just 65 hits in 104.0 innings pitched. Additionally, Brown’s .280 opponent slugging percentage is tied for first in the Majors. Brown was recently honored as the American League Pitcher of the Month for June after posting an AL-best 1.19 ERA and .130 opponent batting average in his five starts for the month.

Peña, 27, has been one of the top, all-around players in baseball this season, hitting .322 in 82 games with 18 doubles, 11 home runs, 40 RBI and 15 stolen bases. He currently ranks tied for second in the Majors in WAR (5.2), third in the AL in batting average (.322), fourth in hits (102) and tied for seventh in steals (15). Peña, also leads all AL shortstops in OPS (.869) and slugging percentage (.485) and is second in batting average.

Hader, 31, has been dominant this season with an MLB-leading 25 saves in 25 chances. His 25 consecutive save conversions are an Astros record to begin a season. For the season, he is 5-1 with a 1.80 ERA in 38 appearances with 61 strikeouts in just 40.0 innings pitched. He has allowed just 22 hits in his 40.0 innings pitched for a .156 opponent batting average and a 0.73 WHIP. Recently, Hader was named the AL Reliever of the Month for June, during which he posted a 4-1 record with an MLB-best nine saves in nine opportunities. The Astros are 36-2 in the 38 games that Hader has appeared in.
