Wrong-way driver faces slew of charges after causing crash that killed 2, police say

PASADENA, Texas – Police said a wrong-way drunken driver was the cause of a deadly crash in Pasadena Thursday night.

Around 10:05, police said they received multiple reports that the driver of a white truck was driving eastbound in the westbound lanes of traffic on SH 225 near Richey Street.

Police said the truck struck another vehicle head-on.

Two of the people in the other vehicle were taken to an area hospital where they were pronounced dead, according to police. The other two people in the vehicle were taken to an area hospital in critical condition, police said.

Police said a third vehicle was involved in the crash, but the vehicle sustained only minor damage and the driver only had minor injuries.

The driver of the truck was identified as 31-year-old Julio Aron Rodriguez, of Houston.

He was arrested and charged with two counts of intoxication manslaughter and two counts of intoxication assault, according to officials.

He is being held in the Harris County Jail on a $40,000 bond.
