HOUSTON – Houston was ranked the 9th richest city in America, according to a new report by Bloomberg.
The Top 20 rankings were based on an accumulation of U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis data for the 100 largest metropolitan areas in the United States.

Houston's gross metropolitan product (GMP) of $70,097 per resident is just behind New York City's $70,830, according to Bloomberg.
The Bayou City was also the highest-ranked non-East or West Coast city.
Dallas was the only other Texas city to make Bloomberg's Top 20, ranking 11th with a GMP of $66,168.
San Jose, California took the spot for America's richest city, with a whopping $105,482 GMP.
