HOUSTON – METROLift is changing its fair prices in the beginning of next year.

The METROLift fare outside the ADA-designated area will be $2.50 per trip. A 10-ticket book will be offering riders a 10 percent discount.

METROLift customers will be allowed to ride free on all local, fixed-route buses and METRORail.

The METRO board of directors voted to approve several adjustments to ensure the sustainability of the program.

The fare adjustments are the first approved by board members in 24 years and come after more than two dozen public meetings.

Board members also voted to extend for 12 months both the monthly pass and annual pass for METROLift customers.

The monthly pass will cost $47.25 and the annual pass will cost $418.50.

The new fares reflect the increased cost of delivering service, simplify the pay structure and ensure the sustainability of the METROLift service, board members said.
