Plane crashes into water runway at Hooks Airport

HOUSTON - KPRC 2 has learned a plane crash landed into a water runway at David Wayne Hooks Memorial Airport Wednesday afternoon.

The incident happened around 4 p.m. at 20803 Stuebner Airline Rd. in Spring.

According to authorities, the pilot was training in the water lane when he or she had to make a crash landing.

The pilot was able to leave the plane and swim to shore. It's not clear yet if the plane was damaged in the landing.

The Federal Aviation Administration told KPRC 2 that preliminary information shows that there was only one person on board the plane. The administration will be investigating the incident for several weeks.
