Parents protest at Looscan Elementary after substitute accused of touching, kissing students

HOUSTON – About 20 parents met Monday with school leaders at Houston Independent School District's Looscan Elementary School after allegations that a substitute teacher kissed and inappropriately touched students.

“I was mad. They're so small -- 6-year-olds. It's crazy,” said parent Guadalupe Ortiz.

Parents said three girls in the first grade claimed that a substitute teacher kissed them on the mouth while he was in their classroom for the last three to four weeks.

The incidents came to light Thursday night and school administrators took the teacher out of the classroom on Friday.

“The teacher started getting girls and kissing them on their mouth and sitting them on his lap,” said Ortiz.

Ortiz's daughter is in the same class where the incidents were reported.
“She just said he used to hug her and say, ‘Good job,’” Ortiz said.

Parents wanted to hear from the school about what's being done in the wake of the allegations.

“Is he detained by any HISD police department? Is he being questioned about what's happening to the girls, or what's going on?” said parent Veronica Lopez.

No charges have been filed.

HISD police are investigating.

Parents said they'll continue to go to the school to seek answers every day until they hear more information.
