PASADENA, Texas – A Pasadena police officer was involved in a deadly shooting Wednesday, according to police.
Police said the man ran a red light near the intersection of Pine Avenue and Jana Lane around 7:50 p.m.
When the officer, a 20-year veteran of the force, approached the vehicle, police said the driver fled on foot.
While the officer was chasing the man for about a block, police said the man was throwing narcotics out of his pockets.
A brief struggle ensued and shots were fired, killing the driver, according to police.
The officer was placed on administrative leave pending the investigation, which is standard procedure after an officer-involved shooting.
