Driver dies after vehicle crashes into METRORail train

HOUSTON – The driver of a vehicle died Wednesday after it crashed into a METRORail train in Midtown Houston.

The crash was reported about 5:47 p.m. near the intersection of Main and McGowen streets.

METRO police said Nathaniel Glosson was driving a white SUV northbound on Main Street when it clipped two other vehicles that were stopped at the intersection. They said the SUV flipped over and hit the back of the train.

"I got this really hard hit and I didn't know where it came from," Whitney Howard said. "My airbag deployed on my left side."

Howard said she was confused in her car at the traffic light on Main at McGowen.

"I saw this white car in the air and it landed on this train, a METRO train, and I was puzzled I don't know where it came from," Howard said.

METRO Police said Glosson's SUV crashed into the back of a train that was stopped at the McGowen Street Station.

Glosson was pronounced dead on scene.

Officials have not confirmed how fast Glosson was driving, but said he was speeding before he crashed and died.

"He must have been going past 100 miles per hour," Howard said.
