Man killed, couple tied up in home

Deputies: Husband was dead at the scene

HOUSTON – Sheriff's deputies said a couple was found tied up in their northwest Harris County home for more than 12 hours Sunday and the husband was dead.

The home is located in the 9500 block of Kelsey Meadows Court in the Laurel Creek subdivision. Investigators said relatives found Sandra Melgar, 53, tied up in one closet and the body of her husband, Jaime Melgar, 52, tied up in another closet.

Authorities said family members went to the Melgar's home Sunday around 4:30 p.m. to celebrate the couple's wedding anniversary. Investigators said Sandra Melgar told them she and her husband were in the bathroom around 1 a.m. when she blacked out. Melgar claims the next thing she remembers was being in a closet tied up.

Deputies would not say how Jaime Melgar was killed. Investigators said there did not appear to be any forced entry into the home and everything looked intact. The garage door was found open.

Sandra Melgar was taken to the Harris County Sheriff's Office homicide division on Lockwood in East Houston to be interviewed.

The Melgars recently celebrated their anniversary.

"Thirty-two years was the anniversary. Yes, they were celebrating it," a friend said.

A motive is not yet known.
