Man, 61, dies in motorcycle crash on East Loop, police say

HOUSTON – A 61-year-old man was killed in a late-night crash on the East Loop on Saturday, according to Houston police.

The man was driving a black Harley Davidson motorcycle in the 100 block of East Loop South around 11:45 p.m. when police said he and another motorcycle rider passed a vehicle at a high rate of speed.

After passing one vehicle, the man on the Harley struck the back of a beige BMW, according to police.

He was pronounced dead at the scene and the 53-year-old woman who was driving the BMW was taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The other man was riding a yellow Buell motorcycle and he crashed after the other man struck the back of the BMW, police said. He was taken to an area hospital in unknown condition.

Police said they are not sure if the motorcyclists were racing.
