A 19-year-old woman is facing an aggravated assault charge after investigators say she stabbed a pregnant woman who was dating her ex-boyfriend at a northeast Houston home.
Carrieale Williams was arrested Thursday morning following the alleged attack on Dona Lane.
Court records and Williams’ overnight court appearance are now providing more details about the case, including a previous charge involving another pregnant woman.
A charging document obtained by KPRC 2 identifies the woman who was stabbed as Jaidyn Thomas.
Prosecutors accuse Williams of intentionally, knowingly or recklessly causing bodily injury to Thomas by stabbing her with a knife. The document identifies the knife as a deadly weapon.
Williams was arrested at 5:52 a.m. Thursday and charged with aggravated assault. Her case was assigned to the 185th District Court.
According to Harris County Precinct 3 investigators, Williams invited Thomas to a home in the 12000 block of Dona Lane.
Investigators said the two women knew each other through church. Court records allege Thomas was dating Williams’ ex-boyfriend.
Once inside the home, investigators said Thomas noticed Williams trying to hide a knife.
Williams allegedly pulled out the knife, and a struggle followed. Investigators said Thomas suffered stab wounds to her arms and face.
Thomas is expected to recover.
Williams appeared before a judge overnight.
“The allegations are that you used a knife to stab this complainant. Allegedly, this person is pregnant, allegedly dating your ex-boyfriend,” the judge told Williams.
The judge also referenced a previous assault case involving Williams and a different pregnant person.
“Do note that you have a prior assault of a pregnant person from just last year involving a different complainant,” the judge said.
Court records from the previous case show Williams was accused of assaulting her sister, who was six months pregnant at the time.
Williams was accused of pushing her sister down and punching her in the stomach during an argument over a phone charger.
That case was later dismissed after Williams completed a 10-hour anger management course.
During Williams’ overnight appearance, a $3,000 bond was requested.
The judge transferred the case to the trial court for a bond to be set, citing the allegations involving a stabbing with a knife.
The charging document lists Williams’ first setting in the 185th District Court for Monday, Aug. 24.
A protective order was also approved during the overnight hearing.
KPRC 2 will continue following the case as Williams moves through the court process.
