HOUSTON – A man died after being shot during a dispute with his sister Friday night at a home in northwest Houston, according to the Houston Police Department.
Investigators said the man, about 22, and his sister, about 25, were arguing at a residence in the 5500 block of Bingle Road around 8:25 p.m. Police said the sister had been allowing her brother to stay at the home but was trying to make him leave.
According to police, the man took his sister’s car keys and attempted to drive off in her vehicle. Another argument followed and the two became involved in a physical struggle.
The man had a gun, and detectives believe he may have accidentally shot himself in the stomach during the confrontation, police said.
Houston firefighters responded, performed CPR and took the man to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, authorities said.
The sister was detained at the scene and was cooperating with investigators, police said.
The incident remains under investigation by HPD.
