A 20-year-old man was killed and another man was critically injured in a shooting Wednesday night at what police described as a regular neighborhood domino gathering in northeast Houston.
The shooting happened around 10 p.m. in the 4900 block of Laura Koppe Road.
According to the Houston Police Department, officers arrived to find a 20-year-old man dead at the scene. A second victim, a 50-year-old man, had been shot in the face while inside a vehicle.
Police said a friend drove the injured man to a hospital, where he remains in critical condition.
Investigators believe the victims had been at the location to play dominoes and do not believe both men were involved in the incident that led to the gunfire.
Authorities said it’s unclear how many suspects were involved, but they believe there may have been two shooters.
Officers recovered numerous pistol shell casings at the scene but found no rifle casings. No weapons were recovered from the deceased victim.
Investigators said large groups regularly gather at the location, but there were no reliable witnesses who could provide information about what led to the shooting or identify the suspect or suspects.
The investigation remains ongoing.
Anyone with information is urged to contact the Houston Police Department Homicide Division or Crime Stoppers of Houston at 713-222-TIPS (8477).
