BRAZORIA COUNTY, Texas – A batch of mosquitos collected in Brazoria County have tested positive for the West Nile Virus, according to the Texas Department of State Health Services.

1. Old Airline Road and Shadow Creek Ranch Parkway, Pearland
2. Balsam and Sycamore, Lake Jackson
3. Kirby and Dance Drive, West Columbia
Mosquito Control crews are scheduled to spray these areas twice nightly for the next three nights and will re-trap the locations later this week to monitor mosquito activity, officials said.
Protect yourself and loved ones from mosquito bites by taking these steps:
- Use EPA-registered insect repellent containing DEET, picaridin, or oil of lemon eucalyptus.
- Wear loose-fitting, light-colored clothing that covers your arms and legs.
- Eliminate standing water around your home.
- Limit outdoor activity during dusk and dawn, when mosquitoes are typically most active.
