HPD Bomb Squad called after apparent explosive device found during search warrant at SE Houston home

Authorities are investigating after what appears to be a homemade explosive device was discovered while serving a search warrant in southeast Houston.

According to Precinct 1 Constable Alan Rosen, investigators were executing an Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) search warrant at a home in the 500 block of Gilpin Street when they came across what appeared to be an explosive device inside the residence.

Investigators photographed the device and requested assistance from the Houston Police Department Bomb Squad, which responded to the scene to assess and safely investigate the suspicious item.

Constable Rosen is expected to provide additional information during a press conference once authorities determine exactly what was found.
