Tomball baseball club owner injured by foul ball, airlifted to hospital

The family of Ray DeLeon said he suffered a severe concussion and significant head trauma during a game and was airlifted for emergency medical care; he is now resting and recovering

TOMBALL, Texas – The owner of Banditos Baseball Club — a decades-old Tomball company that sponsors youth and high school baseball programs — is recovering after being struck in the head by a foul ball during a game Thursday, according to his family.

In a statement posted to the club’s official Facebook page, the DeLeon family said Ray DeLeon was hit in the back of the head and suffered a “severe concussion and significant head trauma.” Because of the seriousness of the injury, the family said he was airlifted for emergency medical care.

“We would like to thank everyone for the overwhelming support, prayers, and well wishes following a very scary accident,” the family wrote.

The statement also thanked EMS personnel, first responders, coaches, “Premier/PG staff,” and medical professionals, saying the rapid response and care “made an enormous difference” during what the family described as a frightening situation.

As of the statement, the family said DeLeon was resting, recovering and spending time with his family. The family said they are hopeful for a full recovery and asked for continued prayers and support as he focuses on healing.
