Several train cars derail at railyard in Port of Houston

HOUSTON – Emergency crews with the Port of Houston are at the scene where several train cars derailed at a railyard inside of the port.

The incident happened at the railyard near the intersection of Clinton Drive and McCarty Street.

Officials with the Port of Houston say they are unsure if anyone was injured at this time.

We are told the train cars were carrying grain. There are no reports of any damage or a leak at this time.

Fire crews with the Port of Houston remain on standby and Union Pacific is sending a hazmat crew to inspect the site, according to a Port of Houston spokesperson.

A crew from BNSF was also at the scene.
