AUSTIN, Texas – Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has launched a new investigation into a drone company he says could pose a risk to Texans’ privacy and security.
According to a press release, the company Drone Nerds LLC is being scrutinized for its alleged connection to Anzu Robotics LLC, a firm Paxton claims has affiliations with the Chinese Communist Party.
As part of the investigation, the Attorney General has issued a civil investigative demand, requesting documents related to the company’s operations and how it handles user data. The focus is on whether sensitive information collected by drones could potentially be accessed by foreign adversaries.
Paxton says his office is taking the matter seriously and will pursue action if necessary.
“Our office will take action against any company that puts Texans’ personal data and safety at risk,” Paxton said.
The investigation is ongoing.
