HOUSTON – A shooting involving multiple people and vehicles erupted Sunday evening at a shopping center in southwest Houston, leaving one person dead and others detained as police continue to search for additional suspects.
According to the Houston Police Department, the incident unfolded around 8 p.m. near the intersection of Harwin Drive and Fondren Road.
Investigators say a white Toyota pulled into a parking lot where four individuals were gathered.
At some point, two males entered a vehicle, and gunfire broke out inside.
Authorities say the situation quickly escalated as passengers exited the vehicle and continued exchanging gunfire in the parking lot.
One person was pronounced dead at the scene. Police have not yet released the identity of the victim.
Several individuals fled the scene following the shooting.
Meanwhile, two individuals later arrived at a nearby hospital with gunshot wounds.
Police say one of them drove the other to receive medical treatment. Both individuals have since been detained by officers as part of the ongoing investigation.
The vehicle involved in the shooting is now in the custody of HPD. Officials say its contents have not yet been fully processed.
