HOUSTON – Houston police say a suspect was shot and killed after opening fire at a Sam’s Club late Saturday night by the East Freeway.
According to the Houston Police Department, officers responded to a shooting call around 11:12 p.m. in the 13600 block of the East Freeway.

Investigators said officers learned a male suspect had been vandalizing and breaking into vehicles in the parking lot when employees inside the business heard the activity and ran outside.
Police said the suspect shot at the employees, who retreated back inside the store. The suspect then followed them inside and continued shooting. Officers entered the business and an exchange of gunfire occurred between officers and the suspect.
No officers or employees were injured, police said. The suspect was struck more than once, and officers rendered aid until EMS arrived. He was transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead, according to HPD.
HPD said the shooting occurred inside the business. The case is being investigated by the Homicide SIU, Internal Affairs Division, and the Harris County District Attorney’s Office.
Body camera footage is expected to be released within 30 days.
