Rory McIlroy holds on to win 2026 Masters Tournament, becomes fourth golfer to win in back-to-back years

McIlroy holds off Scheffler’s comeback, winning by one stroke

After Rory McIlroy started the 2026 Masters Tournament with a six-stroke lead heading into the weekend, things got tight down the stretch.

However, the Northern Irish golfer was able to two under par on Sunday to shoot -12 for the weekend, holding off Scottie Scheffler by one stroke to secure his second consecutive green jacket.

McIlroy joins Jack Nicklaus (1965, 1966), Nick Faldo (1989, 1990) and Tiger Woods (2001, 2002) as the fourth golfer to capture wins at Augusta National in back-to-back years.

Scheffler finished in second place (-11), and there was a four-way tie for third between Tyrrell Hatton, Russell Henley, Justin Rose and Cameron Young (-10).
