Officers with the Houston Police Department responded to a shooting call around 12:30 a.m. this morning in the 14200 block of South Post Oak.
When officers arrived, they found multiple trucks parked haphazardly in the roadway and spoke with several witnesses.
Investigators said the incident stemmed from a trail ride event that had taken place earlier, with a large number of attendees in the area as people were leaving. A complainant told officers he saw his trailer attached to an unknown truck and believed it was being stolen. He alerted family and friends, who followed the truck in an attempt to stop the suspected thief.
According to police, the group rammed the suspect’s truck to try to force it to stop. The suspect then got out and began shooting at the complainant, police said. Houston Fire Department transported the victim to the hospital, where he was listed in stable condition.
By the time officers arrived, police say multiple trucks were left scattered across the roadway, and many of the people who had been in the area had already left, including the suspect.
The trailer believed to be at the center of the incident was still attached to the white truck investigators say was involved.
