HOUSTON – A fatal shooting investigation is underway after a violent incident unfolded at a busy intersection in southwest Houston Thursday morning.
The scene is centered near the intersection of W. Fuqua Street and S. Sam Houston Parkway.

According to Houston police, the call initially came in around 9:40 a.m. as an assault but was later updated to a crash.
KPRC 2 photojournalist Cesar Martinez is at the scene and confirmed that at least one person is dead. There appears to be a person wounded in a pickup truck and another person on the roadway.
Houston Police Department homicide investigators are heading to the scene. Details about the victim’s identity have not been released.
HPD has only confirmed one death.
Investigators say a fight broke out at the intersection, and people began calling 911 to report the violence. During the altercation, gunfire rang out from at least one person.
Police have not said whether anyone involved is in custody.
Authorities have shut down multiple lanes in the area as officers work to piece together exactly what led up to the shooting. Traffic is expected to be impacted throughout the investigation.
Drivers are urged to avoid the area and seek alternate routes as the scene remains active.
