Splendora police investigate deadly Highway 59 crash that killed pedestrian in dark roadway

Police say no signs of impairment or speeding in early morning crash

SPLENDORA, Texas – Splendora Police are investigating a fatal crash involving a vehicle and a pedestrian early Saturday morning at the intersection of U.S. Highway 59 and Brice Lane.

Officers were called to the scene around 1 a.m. and found one vehicle involved and an adult man in the roadway. Police said the man was in an unlit area when he was struck, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators reported no indications the driver was impaired or traveling at an excessive speed. A Montgomery County forensic investigator responded and the victim was taken to the Montgomery County Forensic Center, where an autopsy is pending.

The victim’s identity has not been released as officials work to notify next of kin. Splendora Police said their accident reconstruction team is continuing to investigate.
