Fatal 10-vehicle crash shuts down I-10 in Chambers County

CHAMBERS COUNTY, Texas – All lanes on Interstate 10 are shut down eastbound and westbound at mile marker 813 near State Highway 61 in Chambers County as emergency personnel respond to a major accident involving a tanker truck and nine other vehicles.

Traffic is being diverted onto the feeder roads while first responders work the scene. Drivers should expect significant delays in the area and are encouraged to avoid I-10 near SH 61 if possible or use an alternate route.

Texas DPS confirms one person died in the crash. Two other people were transported to hospital with life-threatening injuries. Multiple other people were also transported for lesser injuries.

There was also a haz-mat spill associated with the crashed tanker truck. Crews are working to clean up the spill.
