Law enforcement catches Texas City man viewing child porn while executing warrant

Detectives seized electronic devices and methamphetamine from apartment

TEXAS CITY, Texas – Galveston County deputies arrested a man they said was actively looking at photos and videos of child pornography while they were executing a warrant at a Texas City apartment on Tuesday.

The Galveston County Sheriff’s Office says Tanner Francis, 28, is charged with possession with possession with intent to promote child pornography and possession of visual material depicting sexual assault. His bond is set at $200,000.

The sheriff’s office says the investigation started in February when they received a cyber tip from the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC).

On Tuesday, a search warrant was executed at an apartment in the 2800 block of FM 2004.

As deputies executed the warrant, the sheriff’s office said they caught Francis actively viewing multiple videos and images of child pornography. Detectives also seized several electronic devices along with approximately 4.7 grams of methamphetamine.

Multiple agencies assisted in the investigation and warrant execution, including the Houston Metro ICAC Task Force, which includes personnel from Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), Galveston, League City Police Department, Pearland Police Department, Texas City Police Department, Dickinson Police Department, and La Marque Police Department.

The GCSO Swat Team and Crime Scene Unit, Texas City Police Department SWAT team, and Galveston County Constable Precinct 4 also assisted.
