Klein Collins High School student accidentally fires gun in school bathroom, Klein ISD confirms

Student expelled from district, felony weapons charges accepted in Harris County, district confirms

Officials with Klein Independent School District confirmed Monday afternoon that a student accidentally discharged a firearm inside a restroom at Klein Collins High School.

No students or staff were injured during the incident.

According to a letter sent to families by Klein Collins principal Kristen Brady, the firearm was discharged in an empty restroom during school hours Monday afternoon.

Campus administrators and officers from the Klein ISD Police Department immediately detained the student involved.

The weapon was quickly secured, and the student cooperated when approached by administrators, the district confirmed.

“The campus was not placed into a lockdown or secure status due to the extremely quick actions taken by our team,” principal Brady said.

The student involved has already been expelled from the district, and felony charges have been accepted by the Harris County District Attorney’s Office.

Law enforcement officials are continuing to investigate the incident. Parents were encouraged to report any information related to the situation to the district.
