The investigation began on June 15, 2025, when deputies with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the 23900 block of Northcrest Trail in New Caney. When they arrived, deputies discovered Lonnie Moore’s body inside a white vehicle parked on the side of the roadway with the engine still running. He had a gunshot wound to his head.

The sheriff’s office said the initial scene suggested a suicide and a self-inflicted wound. However, as the investigation progressed, evidence was uncovered that contradicted the initial assessment of suicide.

Over the course of the next nine months, detectives worked on developing leads, which led to Breyanai Moore‘s identification as a suspect.

On Wednesday, Breyanai Moore was taken into custody with assistance from the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office. She has been booked into the Montgomery County Jail and is being held with no bond.
